Uncle Paul’s Daily Rant for 02/08/2017

So now Congress is Expected to Rubber-Stamp

Good morning, mishpocheh… May this day find you strong and courageous!

Senator Elizabeth Warren was silenced for allegedly violating Senate Rule 19, which dictates that a colleague is not to be disparaged on the floor.

The nomination of Sen. Jefferson Beauregard Sessions III to be the nation’s top attorney is up for debate on the floor.  Sen. Warren read a quote from a 1986 letter from Ms. Coretta Scott King, the widow of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., stating her opposition to Sen. Sessions to a federal judicial bench.

Sen. Mitch McConnell shut her down…

Fercryinoutloud, folks, the hearings are supposed to be a debate as to suitability or unsuitability of a nominee for one of the most powerful positions in the nation.

So, since the Republicans hold both houses of Congress, and the Executive Branch, and are about to control the Judicial Branch, every member of the opposition party is expected to shut up, sit down, and knuckle under?

How in the hell is a debate on a nominee supposed to be a debate without opposing views? It’s not supposed to be an ego-stroking session, and when there is contention, it is supposed to be a… well… a debate.

Since the Republican Party has taken power, apparently, once again, we are expected to roll over, take all the bullshit as fact (or… “alternative fact”) and accept that Big Brother Trump has our best interests at heart.

Yeah… and we’ve always been at war with Eastasia, as well.

As my lede yesterday stated, at what point is enough enough?

I’m certain the outrage will continue (hell, it’s a day ending in “y,” so it’s bound to), and I may be updating this posting with more links, but, right now, I’ve got too much bile rising up to do more than this short (for me) morning entry.

Here are some links for you, to read up on that of which I’m speaking this morning.

Here’s where to contact Sen. Mitch McConnell, should you agree with me this morning, and let him know his cowardice and “party over principle” attitude is reprehensible:

If you’d like to contact Sen. Warren and voice your support:

Here’s an admittedly partisan blog posting (hey… I know the blogger… because one may disagree with Ms. Kuns, that doesn’t mean she’s wrong)

And I’ll be adding to this list as the day progresses.

Shalom Aleichem, my mishpocheh.

Keep Resisting!

Strangely, Democratic Representative, Jeff Merkely from Oregon was permitted to finish the reading of the Coretta Scott King letter…

What the hell are those people doing?  White List/Black List as to who can speak?  Or is there an depth of thought better than that?

What have we, as a nation, allowed ourselves to become?

  1. I think everything posted made a lot of sense. However, what about this?
suppose you were to write a killer post title? I ain’t saying your information is
not solid., however suppose you added a post title that makes people want more?
I mean Uncle Paul’s Daily Rant for 02/08/2017 – Paul the Sax Guy is a little vanilla.
You might glance at Yahoo’s front page and see how they create news
titles to grab people to open the links. You might add a video or a picture or two to
grab readers interested about what you’ve written. Just my opinion, it would bring your blog a little livelier.

    1. It’s the nick by which I’ve been known as on one blog which I’ve been a member for more than 10 years, and I’m a sax player… I’m less interested in flash than in content, friend. But thank you for the critique and thank you for your visit!
